It goes without saying that beer is the main event at Departed Soles Brewing Company. This joint is all about beer, both traditional and gluten-free.
They have a number of brews that are always available, as well as a rotating selection of seasonal and other small-batch creations. As far as the permanent selection goes, the Philoso-Rapper is a popular choice. This Belgian ale hybrid is light and sweet, with hints of esters and spices. Modern Cup of Sole is another favorite, brewed in collaboration with ModCup Coffee. This stout-like beer is light, dry, and more accessible than a traditional stout, thanks to the familiar coffee flavor. Departed Soles has a rotational series of IPAs that change depending on the season and ingredients.
Seasonals include the Playoff Beered, specifically brewed for the New Jersey Devils during hockey season, a Christmas Spice Ale, and the Halloween-inspired Ghost of Pumpkins Passed (which happens to be gluten-free!). Stop in from Jersey City apartments which are just minutes away.
Speaking of which, Departed Soles has a number of beers made especially for the gluten-free folk of Jersey City apartments – brews that will surprise even a beer connoisseur. A Dark Night is a Cascadian dark ale reminiscent of Black & Tan, whereas the DGoodbIPA is a hoppy beer with floral and citrus flavors. For something extra-local, try the New Jersey Ninja, which is brewed with the state’s famous honey.
Departed Soles holds occasional events, such as special tastings, new beer releases, and anniversary parties, as well as karaoke, weekly beer and yoga, and collaboration events at other local establishments near Jersey City apartments. Be sure to check their Facebook page for upcoming events.
